Rockliffe Hall is the newest member of growing business group ‘Meet in Durham’.
‘Meet in Durham’, launched last year by Visit County Durham and the Durham Hoteliers Association last year, aims to inspire meetings and conference organisers to choose Durham as a place to meet and do business.
The ‘meetindurham.co.uk’ website offers a one-stop shop for all meeting and conference organisers. It provides information on Durham as a destination, its venues, support services, events, travel and transport options as well as special offers.
The five star hotel opened in 2009 and is located in Hurworth-on-Tees on the banks of the River Tees. Rockliffe Hall's state-of-the-art spa, world-class golf course, well-equipped meeting space from 10 to 250 people, 75 luxury bedrooms and three restaurants ensure it is the perfect place to escape and do business.
“Rockliffe Hall is delighted to have joined Meet in Durham, which is fast becoming an invaluable tool for the Durham business community’s meetings and conferencing needs. We feel that the inclusion of a high class venue such as Rockliffe Hall on the website, adds prestige and calibre to Meet in Durham, “ said Wendy Benson, Director of Sales, Rockliffe Hall.
“Since our launch we have helped to raise the bar in terms of the quality of our service and facilities. Rockliffe Hall is a luxury venue, and, as well as being granted five-star AA status, we were recently crowned as having the best corporate services in the region at the North East Tourism Awards.”
Meet in Durham members include: Barcelo Redworth Hall Hotel, Durham Marriott Hotel Royal County, Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground, Event Durham, Hardwick Hall Hotel, Headlam Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf, Radisson Blu Hotel Durham and Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club.
The meetings industry is worth more than £40m to the county and the Durham Hoteliers Association and Visit County Durham are working together to grow the market.
Neal Holloway, Chair of the Durham Hoteliers Association said: “This is great news and a most welcome addition to Meet in Durham. As a group we have a number of high quality venue options on offer to satisfy meeting and conference needs from luxury five star surroundings to historic, academic and sporting locations.”
Melanie Sensicle, Chief Executive, Visit County Durham said: “Meet in Durham is going from strength to strength and it is great to have Rockliffe Hall on board. The meetings industry is vital to fill the gaps left by leisure visitors, occupying hotel rooms midweek and in the quiet shoulder seasons, bolstering the economy and supporting jobs for local people. From experience I also know that destinations that have a strong meetings market help support the whole tourism industry by helping to disperse leisure visitors widely throughout the county.”
Visit County Durham (VCD) is a not-for-profit private sector company that is funded by Durham County Council and supported by One North East. It works on behalf of tourism businesses and with partners across the county and performs the role of destination management and marketing for County Durham.
